MY MINING MINDSET

"Mining can no longer be an investment for its own sake, but must be associated with the concept of intergenerational sustainable development. It must include time to establish local relationships and incorporate people into the production process and, as a result, ensure a more persevering time horizon than short-term profit goals."

It was December 2011 when I first set foot in a gold mine. I was then 15 years old and on the other side of the world, in Honduras, where my father was working at the time. A reality light years away from my everyday life, but one that allowed me to understand what I was going to do "when I grew up." There I decided that my future would be in the mining industry. Today I am an Italian Geologist, MSc. in Earth Sciences for Risk and Environmental Management with a specialization in Geosciences for Environmental Sustainability. During my studies at "Università degli Studi di Perugia" (Italy) and "Montanuniversität Leoben: Chair of Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics" (Austria), I qualified in the field of Mining-Economic Geology, improving my skills in the development of mining projects located in developing countries. From this story starts my journey leading to the analysis and development of the Vuelta concept. The basis of the project is an extensive specialized training that allowed me to combine Sustainability, Responsibility and Geology through an exciting collaboration with industry professionals who shaped my attitude towards this world and embraced my requests, broadened my skills and enthusiastically supported my ideas.
